Gecker v. Holland... The Taxpayer will return with popcorn...

Thought of the day... "Revitalization" that is led by the public sector is dubious at best; true economic development is best left to the private sector and to private land owners.

So we have an ongoing battle to take The Taxpayer's property.

We like to call it Gecker the Gecko v. Holland the Fox.

In the blue corner,  Holland wanted to steal from The Taxpayer by taxing restaurateurs.  He wants to install the first ever meals tax in Chesterfield County.

Holland wryly stated:

“You don’t have to pay it if you don’t eat out.”

Haha!  You are correct. So you are encouraging residents and visitors alike to avoid Chesterfield businesses.  The Taxpayer thinks you are so clever. You get our special Fox eats the Chicken Award.

In the other blue corner, Gecker wanted to steal from The Taxpayer to raise property tax by 2.1%.  Unfortunately for Gecker, he did not make the weight.  He tries to be a heavyweight; but, alas he has a glass jaw and will always be a lightweight in town.  He was a TKO by the wiser members of the Board that treat The Taxpayer with more respect.  Let's see if Gecker can win the rematch over the meals tax... The Taxpayer thinks he has a shot if Holland is a lightweight too... Gecker has already started the rematch hype with the Pay-per-view quotes:

"I’m not sure how bold I consider a referendum. We were elected to lead.”
Holland is “putting the cart before the horse”.

The Taxpayer will get the popcorn to watch these two lightweights battle it out to be the least appreciated Supervisor in Chesterfield.  Property grabbers are never appreciated.

The revolt will continue... Just remember that The Taxpayer is the real heavyweight.

  1. One should not be surprised that a politician of any party would say something so stupid and anti-business. Holland makes his constituents proud. No doubt, some of his district's residents will find smaller tips and less custom at the restaurants that employ them. You cannot make this stuff up!

    Love the graphics.

Taxpayers are frank; but, always polite. Use commonsense and write like you would to your mother...
