What do the County's priorities have to do with unfunded mandates?

So can a jellyfish have a backbone?  In school we were taught about vertebrates and how we would  never find one working in government. (A truism that was never truer.)

The Taxpayer's ears perked up after reading a wonderful article in the Chesterfield Observer. The lead foreman for building bureaus (not the useful kind where you place your clothes) stated

“I don’t like what I see on the horizon,” Stegmaier said. “We are being hurt by the federal government and what goes on in Richmond."

The Taxpayer agrees until the backbone does not show up...

"but now we have to come up with the money..."

Roll over Stegmaier and dig these rhythm and blues.
  • $541 Million for Retiring Employees (HEY!! Defined Contribution!!! Wake up!)
  • $250 Million for EPA Water Run-off Standards (HEY!! Water is not a pollutant!!)
There are plenty of others running downstream of the Federal and State regulation machines.  Too many unaccountable bureaucrats with too much time on their hands.

At what point does our government "evolve" a backbone and say no.  When does Chesterfield say, "Thanks, but no thanks... We have other priorities like anything else but that..."?

So sue Chesterfield...
Exhibit A) We are fiscally restrained and cannot print money (unlike some others).
Exhibit B) We have to keep the lights on and the emergency first responders at the ready.
So C) we are so sorry, we have nothin' left for Christmas to give you... Mommy and Daddy are glad.

BUT our lead bureaucrat says "Nope, here we grow again".

Therefore, the revolt continues.

Taxpayers are frank; but, always polite. Use commonsense and write like you would to your mother...
